SOLD - Elegant Lounge Chair in Oak and Sheepskin in the Style of Axel Einar Hjorth 1920s
This is a very special antique lounge chair in solid oak and sheepskin. It is a Dutch design from early 20th century, bought directly from the original family from The Hague. The sculptural nature of the solid oak shell of the chair is truly wonderful and we choose to get it reupholstered in a high-end sheepskin by the Swedish sheepskin masters of Skandilock. It highly resembles works by the famous Swedish designer Axel Einar Hjorth. Most notably this shows in the basic ‘basket’ like shape of the chair and the decorative and sculptural curves and accolades on the sides.
The chair is restored to its former glory and the oak shows a desirable color and patina with a rich wood grain. It has been completely reupholstered including the padding. The backside of the chair is finished in linnen and we added a lumbar cushion for extra comfort.
A wonderful and very comfortable chair which will be a unique addition to any stylish interior.
